Drawing
has been a part of my life since the age of three. At the age of seven
I won my first coloring contest; four tickets to see a Walt Disney production
film.
As a young teenager, my parents enrolled me to take private oil painting
lessons. This was the beginning of
my career as an artist. My professor, Mr. Albert Ondush from Clarks Summit, PA, inspired me to continue in the field
of art. He encouraged me at a very young age to develop my talent.
Mr. Ondush taught me how to set up the palette and how to mix my oil paint,
using only
the primary colors. He helped me build a solid foundation in art before
I went to college.
As I developed my talent I learned to use the color wheel
as a guide. I developed the knowledge of learning design with monochromatic, triadic, analogous, complimentary, split complimentary and double
split complimentary colors.
Over the past
36 years as a visual communicator, I have won numerous awards in logo
design and graphic illustration. I worked as an art director for advertising
companies and also worked as an independent graphics contractor for needle
point, latch hook rugs, newspaper, magazine, and manufacturing companies
throughout my career. I served as a pre-press technician for many years
as well as working in the bindery, plating, and camera departments. I
was employed at The Scranton Times, and worked with Scranton Engravers
in the 70's. I also worked for Abington Advertising, in Dalton PA, Partridge
Wirth Co. in Scranton and I worked for Northeastern Litho Prep (a division
of Keystone Printed Specialties.
In the 80's I was employed as art director by a Pocono Magazine (TWIP)
for 13 years and later in my career
I worked for United Huxley Envelope Corporation Mt. Pocono as a pre-press
technician for almost 7 years.
I had the pleasure of studing under the direction of a famous comic book
illustrator, the late John Belfi.
John and I became very good friends. We worked together for the Native
American Pavilion Project in the 90's.
Since May 1974, I own and operate Caprio Graphic Design.
